Carriageway Reconstruction Works in COPSE LANE, FRESHWATER
Carriageway improvement works are due to take place shortly. The following information and guidance has been provided in relation to what will happen during the works.
During the work no on-street parking and no vehicle through access will be permitted within the areas of closure.
We recognise that these improvement works may cause some inconvenience for residents and businesses, but we hope any disruption will be offset by the long-term improvements we are making. We would like to thank you in advance for your assistance in enabling us to complete these works.
Please note, there are a variety of factors including inclement weather and emergency works that may affect the timing of works. Please watch the on-site boards for confirmation/changes of the start date / duration (example shown below).
Timing of the works:
- Reconstruction works due to start 28th May 2024 for approximately 10 working days.
- Reconstruction works will take place during the day between 07:00 – 17:00.
- Reconstruction works will be completed in 3 phases. This letter is notification of Phase 1.
- Further information will be circulated to businesses and residents regarding Phase 2 & Phase 3, which will involve further reconstruction works in Copse Lane down to Hooke Hill.
- Advance warning boards with start and end date will be erected before works commence.
RECONSTRUCTION WORKS – INFORMATION

Safety measures during works:

· A 24-hour road closure will be required throughout the works for safety reasons. · Vehicle access will be prohibited at all times within the area of works. · Only when it is safe to do so, resident access will be maintained within the road closure extent outside of the area of works. · Should you require your vehicle during the dates of work we would recommend parking in an alternative location. · “No Parking” cones will be placed out the night prior to works commencing. · There will be no through access for pedestrians and cyclists. · Emergency vehicle access will be maintained. |
Access
If you would like assistance whilst Island Roads are working in your street, and you have a medical condition, a disability and/or a social care problem such as mobility problems or near-term pregnancy that may impact you or another using the footway and/or road please contact us, so arrangements can be made to assist you.
Vehicle Removal
We would ask that you do not park within the confines of the works or any areas that have had “no parking” cones put out before the start of the works and for the duration of the works. Failure to do so will result in your vehicle being moved.
Waste Collection Including Commercial Waste
If these works coincide with your usual domestic waste collection day, please ensure your waste is on the kerbside before 7am to enable its collection or contact your service provider to make alternative arrangements with them.
In an Emergency
We work closely with the emergency services and will assist the emergency services to safely pass through the site, should they need to access the works area in the event of an emergency.
