Budget

Freshwater Parish Council operations and services are primarily funded through the Council Tax paid by residents of the Isle of Wight. Additional income is generated by the Parish Council through the Boat Park and the Allotments.

Each year the Parish Council undertakes a budget setting process which begins in the autumn, during which time the anticipated income and expenditure for the following year is calculated and reviewed. The amount received by the Parish Council is calculated each year by way of a budget setting process. This process considers the statutory commitments the Parish Council has to its residents as well as upcoming projects and arrives at a figure known as the precept. The final budget is approved by the Isle of Wight Council each January and the figure required to be collected as part of the Council Tax – known as the Precept – is set.

The Council Tax paid by the residents of the Parish of Freshwater is collected by the Isle of Wight Council.

Information regarding how your council tax is spent can be found by visiting the council tax area of the Isle of Wight Council’s website.
