Community Grant Awards
A total of nine applications were made to the Parish Council this year and we are pleased to say that all nine projects received an amount of money to enable them to take forward their projects. The amounts awarded to each project are listed below.
A Day at the Bay – Marsh Walk
There will be a walk through The Marsh lead by Nick. Saturday 6th October 12noon approx. 1.5hrs walk. Meeting at the far end of Coastguard Lane in Freshwater Bay. Donations to Gift to Nature
Compton Bay and Downs Project
The National Trust are holding an exhibition on Saturday 20 October between 10.30am and 2.30pm at The Memorial Hall, Avenue Road, Freshwater. Please click here for details.
Closure of Lloyds Bank
The Parish Council appreciates that the closure of the last fixed high street banking facility may affect many people and businesses within the local community. Community Grant Applications
The Parish Council is able to offer a limited number of small grants to local projects, where it can be shown that this will benefit the community. The next round of applications will be considered on 2nd October and deadline for applications is 25th September. Applications should be made directly to the Parish Council.
Freshwater Soup
The first Freshwater Soup was held this week at the Conservative Club. Four very worthy local projects made their pitch – West Wight Sports Centre – Extend our Gym, FYT Bus, Men in Sheds and Skate Park Users. Isle of Wight Council has recently released its housing needs assessment. This shows a need for 68 dwellings per annum for the West Wight.
